NCHIMA 2011 RACE Award Winner AHIMA recognized the best and brightest coding roundtable coordinators and CSAs for excellence in programming with the 2011 Roundtable Achievement in Coding Excellence (RACE) Awards on Saturday, October 1, 2011 during the Clinical Coding Community Meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah.

NCHIMA was presented an award in each of the three RACE categories:

1st Place: NCHIMA Coding Roundtable Activities (tied with SCHIMA and LHIMA). Honorable Mention: Coding Roundtable Coordinator Recognition for Excellence, Kou Yang, RHIA. Honorable Mention: Recognition of Coding Leadership in North Carolina.

NCHIMA would like to congratulate and thank Kou Yang, RHIA, Coding Roundtable Coordinator 2010-2011 for her work in organizing and providing excellent meetings and networking opportunities for the NCHIMA coding community.

	AHIMA 2011 Pioneer Triumph Award
	William Lee Ford, MHA, RHIT, CPC, CPC-H, CHC is the well deserving recipient of AHIMA's 2011 Pioneer Triumph Award, The award honors those individuals, groups, or organizations who are focused on moving HI and HIM into the future of the healthcare wellness industry. Lee has utilized breakthrough thinking, actions of HIM, and visionary leadership for data quality, and the future application of ICD-10-CM/PCS. As a result, he has pioneered new relationships for the successful implementation of ICD-10. The ICD-10 education led by Lee has resulted in North Carolina being one of the top CSAs relative to ICD-10 education. 	Since their inception in 1994, the AHIMA Triumph Awards have honored those professionals responsible for advancing the field of health information management (HIM).
