Emily Hammond is a senior in the Health Information Management program at East Carolina University expecting to graduate in May. At East Carolina, Emily is the President of Omicron Delta Kappa, a leadership honors society, as well as the Vice President of Philanthropy and Service for her sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha. Emily is in the inaugural class of the Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Scholars Program for Eastern NC and is a member of the Student Health Informatics and Information Management Association (SHIIMA) and the Future Healthcare Executives (FHE) at East Carolina University, and a member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). She is the Office Manager at Refreshology Aesthetics and Massage therapy in Greenville, NC. Last summer, Emily completed an internship in Mobile, Alabama which she found independently as she wanted to gain experience and knowledge in the Health Information Management field. A subject matter that has been taught and read about throughout the HIM program, was brought to light on her very first day.
