Pamela Lail is an Operations Specialist (Corporate HIM Project Manager) with Novant Health in Winston-Salem, NC. She received a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management from Western Carolina University and a Masters in Healthcare Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has been an active member of NCHIMA for 18 years and has served in a variety of leadership roles. She is a Past-President of NCHIMA and was the Industry Team Chair for the 2018-2019 term. In September of 2015, Pamela was awarded the Fellowship of AHIMA designation (FAHIMA) by her national credentialing association putting her in the top 0.18% of professionals in her field at that time. She is a recognized expert on data analytics, healthcare informatics, information governance, business intelligence, and leadership theory topics. She co-wrote the SBAR for AHIMA that is the basis for building the AHIMA Leadership strategy, she wrote the lecture content for the NCHIMA Leadership webinar series presentations, and has provided education on leadership topics for many different associations. Pamela recently helped publish an academic paper on the facility closure process for healthcare facilities that was published in the Fall 2016 edition of Perspectives in Health Information Management. Pamela is passionate about helping students and new professionals succeed. She has helped mentor professionals in the HIM industry and the project management industry. Pamela was one of the first credentialed project managers in the United States that was also credentialed by AHIMA and worked entirely in HIM. She received the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2017 from the PMI-Metrolina Chapter for building their student mentorship program. She taught for 4 years as an adjunct faculty member for Central Piedmont Community College in the Health Information Technology program on the topic of Health Informatics and Electronic Health Records. Pamela is responsible for project solutions and HIM initiatives throughout Novant Health.
