Sharon Easterling, MHA, RHIA, CCS, CDIP, CPHM, FAHIMA, is the CEO of Recovery Analytics, LLC. Focusing on clinical documentation integrity and quality within documentation has been a focus for her throughout her career. Beginning her HIM journey over 20 years ago, Sharon’s experience is extensive working in a variety of HIM areas such as Inpatient and Outpatient coding, utilization review, CDI, recovery audits, as well as managing HIM and Coding Departments. Sharon has a unique background with exposure to both the acute and ambulatory setting throughout her career. This is extremely beneficial to providers with thye changing payment models and focus on quality. Her past experience includes Corporate Assistant Vice President of a major integrated health system in the southeast and Senior Director Ambulatory Clinical Documentation Improvement at a large Medical Group.
Her passion lies in documentation improvement and she has shared her experiences with other professionals through speaking and writing in many national publications as well as participation in the development of many AHIMA practice briefs and educational sessions for NCHIMA, AHIMA, HFMA, and AAPC as well as other healthcare care entities. Sharon most recently authored the Clinical Documentation Improvement Prep Guide and Exam Book for AHIMA and winner of the AHIMA CSA Recognition for Advancing Coding Knowledge through CodeWrite publishing. She currently sits on the Executive Board of NCHIMA as President, 2016-2017 and an AHIMA delegate. She is a past member of the RAC Monitor editorial board, and current member of American College of Physician Advisors advisory board, AHIMA Coding Community Practice Council as well as past member of the AHIMA CDI and Future of Coding workgroup.
