Trauma Coding Doesn’t Have To Be A Headache! – May 19, 2019
Hello, Members of the South Region,
It’s Kathy your past president and I would like to take a moment to make you aware of the current state of our region. Since the start of this fiscal year, there have been several changes that I would like to make you aware of.
First, our newly elected president Lavatrice Parker submitted her resignation which was accepted by the board. Upon receipt of her resignation, the remaining board members continued to move forward with planning the activities for the year.
As we move forward, the plan for this upcoming term will be to offer webinars throughout the year, one which has already happened. We are also working on an onsite meeting at Gaston College which is tentatively scheduled for April 24th.
This brings me to the second issue. There has been a steady decrease in volunteerism over the years and as any board member can tell you, volunteers not only make a difference, they are the reason these programs happen.
Over the past 3 years there have been significant changes with the board and NCHIMA. The South Region board worked diligently with NCHIMA to bring the South Region into 501(c)(6) status. We also undertook the task of revising the official policy and procedure manual and the bylaws. This means the volunteers going forward will have documented rules they can use to govern the organization. As you consider whether you would like to step up and volunteer, understand that no one serves alone. There are many support systems in place to assist you along the way. Please consider reaching out to the board to continue our great work. You may contact us at the Contact Us page on the NCHIMA website.
Talk to you soon,
2019-2020 Board Members
Kathy Terry, RHIA, CHTS-PW
Cymone A. Tuner, RHIA
